This appeal challenges a judgment entered after a jury trial by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Nickerson, Judge, convicting appellant Calvin Stroman of armed bank robbery in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2113(a) and (d) (1976). 1

The relevant facts can be briefly stated. On November 7, 1980, three men entered a branch of Citibank in Rochedale Village, Queens. While one of the men stood guard at the door, the others, who wore hooded sweatshirts and sneakers, vaulted the tellers’ counter brandishing guns.
