On this appeal, the defendant argues, inter alia, that his *408guilt was not established beyond a reasonable doubt and that the trial court erred in refusing to admit into evidence an exculpatory, nonverbal statement made by the wounded victim approximately 13 hours after the shooting and six days prior to his demise.
