Prior to November 22, 1919, the plaintiff, Cord, had been employed by the defendant, City of Chicago, in the classified civil service of said city, as an arc light trimmer, in the Department of Gas and Electricity. On that day charges were filed against him and a hearing was had before the Civil Service Commission, and on December 12, 1919, he was discharged. On February 1, 1920, the plaintiff sued out a writ of certiorari from the superior court of Cook county, and as a result of the proceedings in that court an order was entered on May 19, 1921, reinstating him.
