The plaintiff and defendant were married, in Chicago in 1920. The plaintiff is a railroad man, and at that time he was employed by the Illinois Central R. R. Co. In January, 1926, he entered the service of the New York Central and came to Seattle, where he has since resided. Except for a brief sojourn in Seattle from October, 1926, to January, 1927, defendant has continued to reside in Chicago. The plaintiff brought this action in 1931, asking for a divorce on the grounds of desertion and cruelty. The defendant by cross-complaint prayed for a decree of divorce, settlement of property rights…
