Mrs. Hare brought a suit against the Southern Railway Company and its engineer, Alexander, for the full value of the life of her son, Norman Hare. Her petition alleged that he was killed in a railroad crossing collision between a train of the defendant company, operated by Alexander, and an automobile in which her son was riding as an invited guest, and that his death was caused by the negligence of the defendants.
