The defendant below was a fraternal beneficiary society. During the lifetime of Mary Stretton, and while she was a member in good standing of one of the defendant's subordinate branches or lodges, it issued to her a beneficiary certificate payable at her death to the plaintiff, her husband. After her decease the plaintiff brought an action for the enforcement of the certificate.
