On May 9, 1923, Z. L., Nellie E., Frank T. and Adeline Girard executed their promissory note secured by a real estate mortgage on lands in Latah county for the sum of $16,000, in favor of the Farm Mortgage Security Company, which, for convenience, will hereinafter be referred to as the Security Company. On June 20th following the note and mortgage were assigned to the respondent, John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, which will hereinafter be referred to as the Insurance Company.
