Plaintiffs Sergio Perez and Erick Veliz Ramos filed a representative action under the Labor Code Private Attorneys General Act of 2004 (PAGA; Lab. Code, § 2698 et seq.), alleging that U-Haul Co. of California (U-Haul) violated several provisions of the Labor Code, including overtime and meal break requirements. U-Haul filed a motion to compel plaintiffs to individually arbitrate whether they qualified as “aggrieved employee [s],” and therefore had standing to pursue a PAGA claim. (See Lab.
