Dr. Jason D‘. Heap applied to be a chaplain in the U.S. Navy and was rejected. He, along with The Humanist Society, the organization that endorsed him for the chaplaincy, bring this suit against the Department of Defense, the U.S. Navy, and several military officers in their official and individual capacities alleging that the Department of Defense and the Navy have an unconstitutional-policy of discrimination against Humanism.
