The plaintiff, Karolina Karpov (“Karoli-na”), who resides in Poughkeepsie, New York, appears pro se and was granted permission to proceed informa pauperis pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1915. (D.I. 3.)

I. BACKGROUND

Karolina filed this action against her adoptive parents, the defendants Vladimir Karpov (“Vladimir”) and Svetlana Karpov (“Svetla-na”) (together “the Karpovs”), alleging that she was sexually abused by Vladimir during her tender years and that Svetlana beat her for complaining of the abuse.
