HULL, Circuit Judge:

Alabama death row inmate Jeffery Lee appeals the district court’s denial of his 28 U.S.C. § 2254 petition for a writ of habeas corpus. As to his death sentence, the Alabama appellate court held that: (1) Lee’s trial counsel was not ineffective in the investigation and presentation of mitigation evidence under Strickland v. Washington, 466 U.S. 668, 104 S.Ct. 2052, 80 L.Ed.2d 674 (1984); (2) the trial judge’s override of the jury’s life-sentence recommendation did not violate Ring v.
