From the pleadings in this case, it appears that on June 2d, 1932, Herman Leifert was presented before a justice of the peace in the town of Goshen upon a grand juror’s complaint, charging him with beating his daughter in violation of General Statutes, § 6061, entitled “Cruelty to persons.” At the conclusion of the hearing, the justice sentenced him to thirty days in the county jail at Litchfield and fined him $100 and costs. On the same day, execution of the sentence was ordered suspended until his daughter could be placed permanently in a home. June 13th, 1932, the justice ordered the fine…
