This case involves a contractor’s attempt to enforce a material-man’s lien against an owner/developer for improvements made on behalf of the owner’s tenant. The contractor, McMichael’s Construction Company, Inc. (“McMichael’s”), brought an action against the owner, F. S. Associates, Ltd. (“F.S.A.” or “landlord”), to enforce a material-man’s lien against property which was developed as a shopping center known as Hunting Creek Plaza.
