On May 5, 1909, between three and four o’clock in the morning, Henry Tietlebaum was fatally shot near a grocery store at 756 West Seventeenth street, in the city of Chicago. Tietlebaum was a bakery-wagon driver employed by Joseph Blonski, a baker doing business at 642 Milwaukee avenue. At that time there was a strike going on among the bakers employed by Blonski. No one other than the parties charged with the shooting saw it, but as soon as the shots were fired a crowd gathered and Tietlebaum was picked up from the sidewalk where he had fallen and taken to a hospital, where he died a short…
