This appeal emanates from a judgment, entered on the verdict of a jury, convicting appellant of twelve violations of federal narcotic laws.1 The verdict followed a trial on an indictment charging three separate offenses for each of four alleged sales of narcotics to an *849undercover police officer.2 The principal events giving rise to the prosecution were related at trial by Officer Thomas G.
