OPINION

FLANDERS, Justice.

Playing second base during a recreational, coed-softball-league game, the plaintiff, Lori Kiley (Kiley) injured her knee when a male base runner, the defendant, Steven Patterson (Patterson), aggressively slid into her. He did so while attempting to advance from first to second base on a batted ground ball fielded by the third baseman. Presumably, he sought to break up a possible double play and force out at second base.
