SULLIVAN, Judge:

On October 23, 1987, appellant was tried by military judge sitting alone as a special court-martial at Naval Station, San Diego, California. Pursuant to his pleas, he was found guilty of two specifications of unauthorized absence, in violation of Article 86, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 886. He was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement for 60 days, and forfeiture of $400.00 pay per month for 2 months. The convening authority ap*471proved the sentence as adjudged.
