The defendant is a corporation engaged in manufacturing veneering, and the plaintiff was an employee of defendant at the time he received the injury complained of, and this action is brought for damages.

The plaintiff alleges that his business at the time of the injury (as it had been for the past four or five days) was to hoist logs or blocks' by means of a sweep, to which was attached a block and tackle; that the blocks were raised in this way from the floor of the building, a distance of some four feet, swung around to the machine and then fastened; that it was also a part of his duty to…
