Claiming rights of exclusive possession to a tract of land occupied by defendants, the United States brought an action for forcible entry and unlawful detainer, seeking an order for the removal of any individual currently in possession of the property. After the United States moved for summary judgment, defendants moved for a continuance on grounds that they wished to take further discovery; the district court refused and instead granted the government’s summary judgment motion.
