This is an appeal from the decision of the Probate Court for the district of Stamford denying the application by the plaintiff, Tamara A. Shockley, to change her son’s name. Both parties appeared pro se in both courts. The pleadings in this appeal were closed. The case was assigned for a May 14, 2004 trial. After due notice to the defendant, Edward C. Okeke, he failed to appear at trial. The plaintiff appeared and presented evidence. The trial proceeded and the evidence concluded on May 14, 2004.
