This matter is before the Court on the plaintiffs motion for approval of attorney fees under 42 U.S.C. § 406(b). Counsel seeks approval of a fee of $9,680.50. The attorney for the Commissioner, a special assistant United States attorney with the Social Security Administration’s regional office in Chicago, filed a response opposing the motion, suggesting instead that a fee of $8,000 is reasonable, or maybe a compromise amount between those two boundaries might be agreed upon between…
