OPINION

PETERSON, Judge.

In this wrongful discharge action, appellant TCF Bank Savings, fsb (TCF) argues the trial court erred (1) in refusing to grant a new trial on, or to further reduce, the damages awarded for respondent John McGrath’s emotional distress and (2) in instructing the jury on causation under the whistleblower statute. McGrath argues the trial court erred in reducing the damages awarded for his emotional distress and in granting JNOV on his defamation claim.
