Upon the original hearing before respondent County of San Diego Retirement Board (hereinafter referred to as Board), it appeared that petitioner was employed by the County of San Diego as a deputy sheriff from 1949 to 1962; that petitioner suffered from a duodenal ulcer for approximately six years before his retirement; that following surgery petitioner developed a condition known as the dumping syndrome; and that petitioner had thereby become permanently incapacitated for the performance of his duties.
