By the St. of 1913, c. 807, § 1, cities and towns upon acceptance of the act may pay compensation “to such laborers, workmen and mechanics” employed by them “as receive injuries arising out of and in the course of their employment, or, in case of death resulting from any such injury, may pay compensation . . . to the persons thereto entitled” as provided in the St. of 1911, c. 751, and acts in amendment thereof.
