In this lawyer disciplinary proceeding, the Oregon State Bar charged the accused with violating two Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC): RPC 1.7(a), which prohibits a lawyer from representing a client without informed consent if “there is a significant risk that the representation *** will be materially limited by *** a personal interest of the lawyer”; and RPC 1.8(a), which prohibits a lawyer from “enter [ing] into a business transaction with a client” without the requisite advice and the client’s consent.
