STEWART, Judge.

A jury convicted defendant, Joe S. Heg-wood, of murder in the second degree and assessed his punishment at 99 years imprisonment. Defendant appeals from the judgment entered on the verdict.

In stating the facts we view the evidence in the light most favorable to the verdict. State v. Stancliff, 467 S.W.2d 26, 27 (Mo.1971). The jury could reasonably have found the facts to be as follows: Defendant met Phyllis Spurlin at Kings Bar in Bonne Terre, Missouri, in early August of 1974.
