¶ 1. Scotty B. Lyles appeals the judgment of the Oktibbeha County Circuit Court which convicted him of violating Mississippi Code Annotated section 97-19-55 (Rev.2000) for obtaining merchandise of a total value of $100 or more under false pretenses by knowingly and intentionally writing a bad check. After the indictment was amended to reflect Lyles’s status as a habitual offender under Mississippi Code Annotated section 99-19-83 (Rev.2000), he was sentenced to serve a term of life imprisonment in the Mississippi Department of Corrections without eligibility for…
