A special court-martial composed of a military judge sitting alone convicted Appellant, pursuant to his pleas, of willful dereliction of duty and the use of cocaine, in violation of Articles 92 and 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), 10 U.S.C. §§ 892, 912a (2000). The sentence adjudged by the court-martial included a bad-conduct discharge, confinement for four months, and reduction to the lowest enlisted grade.
