The appellant in this case made certain qualified admissions to a police officer through an interpreter. The police officer was permitted to testify to those statements, even though the State did not call the interpreter to the stand. We granted the State’s petition for discretionary review to address whether the interpreter’s rendition of the appellant’s statement to the police officer constituted an additional, objectionable layer of hearsay.
