J. STATEMENT OF THE CASE

On September 30, 1997, the defendant, Stacey Riley, was charged by bill of information with possession of a stolen vehicle valued over five hundred dollars in violation of La.R.S. 14:69. The defendant entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment on October 14, 1997. After a jury trial on February 12, 1998, the defendant was found guilty as charged.
