At various times during the period between March and May 1996, Felicia Reynolds, Treva Clifton, Wilma Latham, Darryl Chapman Jr., Felicia Brown, Eric Studa-mire, and Sonya Peake (“the customers”) visited Crown Pontiac, Inc. (“Crown”), an automobile dealership in Birmingham, Alabama. Each of the customers was referred to Charles Fountain, a Crown salesperson, for assistance.
