MEMORANDUM OF DECISION

EUGENE R. WEDOFF, Bankruptcy Judge.

Three Chapter 7 cases are now before the court on the debtors’ motions to avoid liens on wages deducted pursuant to an Illinois collection law. The motions are all grounded in § 522(f) of the Bankruptcy Code (Title 11, U.S.C.). Because of a recent change in Illinois law regarding the exemptibility of such wages, the court questioned whether § 522(f) remained applicable, and provided the debtors an opportunity to brief the question.
