Stephen L. Roberts, a Virginia inmate proceeding pro se, filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254. By Order dated February 18, 2009, petitioner was informed that his petition appeared barred by the statute of limitations, 28 U.S.C. § 2244(d). Petitioner responded, challenging the Court’s computation of the date on which his state conviction became final and asserting that he was entitled to equitable tolling of the statute of limitations.
