MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER

BUCKLO, District Judge.

In 1995, Gardner, Carton & Douglas (“Gardner”), a Chicago, Illinois, law firm, acted as local counsel for Universal Manufacturing Co. (“Universal”), a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business in Kansas City, Missouri, in a trademark suit against Douglas Press, Inc. (“Douglas”). Gardner later represented Douglas in patent infringement suits against third parties. Douglas, through counsel other than Gardner, sued Universal for patent and trademark infringement in 2001.
