The officer’s return on the writ and complaint showed service by leaving, in Middletown, a copy thereof with “Eric Peterson, Vice President and General Manager of the International Association of Machinists.” The defendant pleaded in abatement on the ground that it is a voluntary association, and that the process was not otherwise served than upon Peterson, a vice president of the association, while it should have been served upon the presiding officer, the secretary or the treasurer of the defendant.
