In this lawsuit, plaintiff William G. Marshall, Jr., M.D., asserts state-law defamation claims against defendants Edward Planz, M.D. (his former business partner) and Southeastern Cardiovascular Associates, P.C. (“SCA”) (a corporation of which Planz is currently, and Marshall was formerly, a shareholder and employee). 1 Pending before the court is the motion for summary judgment filed by the defendants as to Marshall’s state-law defamation claims. 2 For the following reasons, the court finds that the defendants’ motion is due to be granted in part and…
