The public works contract provided that Wesley was to furnish “all labor, materials, and equipment required to perform and complete the contract upon piping, heating, and service pumps in connection with the construction of a pump station and underground reservoir for the net contract price of $80,604.00.” Attached to the contract was the specific contract involving the specifications and a guarantee clause providing as follows:

“Guarantee:
“Each contractor shall be responsible for his own work and shall make good, repair or replace, at his own expense, as may be necessary any defective work,…
