OPINION OF THE COURT

PAPADAKOS, Justice.

We granted review in this case in order to re-examine our test for the defense of the so-called “two schools” doctrine in a medical malpractice case arising in the context of a jury instruction. The necessity of our re-examination arises from *33the vacillation of the Superior Court and our Court in applying the appropriate standard.
