BILLINGS, Judge.

Defendants appeal from the judgment of the Circuit Court of Howell County awarding plaintiff $2,224.38 as the reasonable value of the materials and labor expended by plaintiff in the remodeling of defendants’ house.

The trial court, after trial de novo, following trial in associate circuit court, found, inter alia: “that parties attempted to enter an agreement whereby petitioner would refurbish a house belonging to respondents in return for which he and his wife could live in the house rent free for a period of time; that said agreement is unenforceable in that it violates the…
