Plaintiff brings this suit to recover the difference between the retired pay she has received as a lieutenant and the retired pay she would have received as a lieutenant commander.

On October 18, 1957, plaintiff’s uterus and ovaries were removed by surgery. On December 3, 1957, plaintiff was selected for promotion to lieutenant commander by a Navy Selection Board. On December 4, 1957, plaintiff’s left kidney was removed by further surgery.
