CRAWFORD, Judge:
In late 1994, appellant was tried by a military judge sitting alone as a general court-martial at Fort Bliss, Texas. Contrary to Ms pleas, he was convicted of possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and assault, in violation of Articles 112a and 128, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 912a and 928, respectively. The convening authority approved the sentence of a dishonorable discharge, 8 years’ confinement, partial forfeitures, and reduction to the lowest enlisted grade.
