I. Introduction

Matthew Alder, (“Petitioner”), presently-confined at the State Prison of Southern Michigan in Jackson, Michigan, seeks the issuance of the writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254. In his application, filed pro se, Petitioner challenges the legality of his conviction after a jury trial in the Macomb County Circuit Court of one count of first degree premeditated murder, Mich. Comp. Laws § 750.316(l)(a), and one count of first degree felony murder, Mich. Comp. Laws § 750.316(l)(b). Petitioner was sentenced to life imprisonment…
