OPINION
FOLEY, Judge.
Appellant Coley Gates was convicted of assault in the second degree for shooting two people at a Minneapolis bar. The post-conviction court denied his petition for *418post-conviction relief based on ineffective assistance of counsel. We reverse and remand for a new trial.

Appellant was charged with three counts of assault in the second degree for shooting and injuring several people at the Taste Lounge in Minneapolis on April 17, 1983.
