Following a bench trial, defendant Jason M. Johnson was found guilty of aggravated battery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 38, par. 12 — 4 (now codified as 720 ILCS 5/12 — 4 (West 1992))) and sentenced to three years in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
