The City of Philadelphia maintains for the use of the public a large bathing lake in League Island Park. In the northwesternmost portion of this lake the water runs through a channel about 55 feet .wide to a concrete perpendicular intake pipe or well which is situated midway between the north and south sides of the channel and is covered with, a wooden platform approximately 12 feet long in an easterly and westerly direction and 7 feet wide; the top of this platform is 8 inches above ■ the water line during the bathing season.
