Lewis, J.:

Defendant appeals from a jury verdict awarding plaintiff $105,000 in compensatory damages and $50,000 in punitive damages. The verdict was rendered on plaintiff’s claim that defendant was responsible for tortious interference with a prospective business advantage. Both parties have appealed. Plaintiff argues on *672appeal that the trial court erred in holding his action for defamation was time barred.

We reverse the judgment in favor of plaintiff and affirm the issue on which plaintiff cross-appealed.
