This is an apparently ordinary breach of warranty case brought in federal court pursuant to diversity jurisdiction that has become surprisingly convoluted as it has proceeded through the courts below. Wanda Webber, a North Carolina resident, sought damages for an allegedly defective piece of farm equipment manufactured by Massey-Ferguson, Inc. (“Massey-Ferguson”) and sold under a financing agreement between Webber and Massey-Ferguson Credit Corporation (“Massey-Ferguson Credit”).
