In September, 1929, the defendant borough of Sea Girt, by ordinance, authorized the construction of a sixteen feet wide boardwalk on the easterly twenty-five feet of Ocean avenue as shown on "Map of Sea Girt, by Chas. F. Ingham, Engineer, Revised by Frederick J. Anspach, Engineer, 1877," at a cost of $40,000. This action was approved by referendum vote of the electorate at the general election on November 5th, 1929.
