The City of Warren (Employer) petitions for review of an adjudication of the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board (Board) granting the fatal claim petition of Sharon Haines (Claimant), widow of Thomas Haines (Decedent), who died of colon cancer six years after he retired from the Warren Fire Department. The Board concluded that Decedent’s colon cancer was an occupational disease under the Workers’ Compensation Act (Act), 1 and, thus, compensable.
