GRUBB, District Judge.

This is a writ of error to the District Court for the Northern District of Texas from a judgment and sentence in a contempt proceeding instituted by the United States against plaintiffs in error, hereinafter called defendants. The defendant Clay Cooke was an attorney in, and the defendant J. F. Walker was a party to, a number of suits and bankruptcy proceedings pending in the 'District Court. A few days before the alleged contempt was committed, one of the suits against Walker, in which Cooke was one of his lawyers, had been tried in the District Court, with a jury, and…
